Their Path Isn't Mine

So I wrote a couple of short poems today:

You’re not in control
Learning to go with the flow
The path to true peace.

So much of my recent path has been learning that I cannot control the choices and lifestyles of others. As I watch family members with addictions hurt themselves to the point of nearing death, only to recover with the desire to continue the addictions, I must remind myself of this...

In time
I learn
Their path
Isn’t mine
It’s freeing.

I am grateful for this new understanding which releases me from the prison of trying to "fix" it all, and to stop trying to fix what's not mine to fix.
